We’re Kathleen and Darren, the people behind Alpinique Collective.
Colorado has been part of nearly every phase of our life together. We’ve traveled the state as a young couple, with small children, with teenagers, and now with college students who still come home to us in the summers and holidays. Over the years, we’ve skied its mountains, driven its back roads, ridden bikes through its deserts, and explored places far beyond the obvious destinations.
We’ve slept in tents, pop-ups, tiny homes, condos, and houses, and some of our most memorable Colorado experiences have come from every end of that spectrum. We've come to understand that where you stay gets woven into the memory of the trip itself—the place where you drank your morning coffee, came back to at the end of the day, gathered around, laughed, rested, and planned what came next.
That understanding is at the heart of what we work hard to get right. We create places that feel inseparable from the experience itself—woven into the beauty, adventure, and memories of your time in Colorado.

That idea is at the center of Alpinique Collective.
The first two places in Alpinique are in places we genuinely love—properties chosen for their setting, character, and sense of place, then thoughtfully designed with guests’ needs at the top of mind. We focus on comfortable beds, beautiful and functional spaces, well-equipped kitchens, and places to enjoy the view. We want each property to feel like somewhere you can come back to after a day outside and immediately settle in. Thoughtful amenities and the small details matter, too, because they are what make a stay feel considered rather than generic.
We’re drawn to places with something you can’t manufacture: an extraordinary view, direct access to the mountains, or simply a location that makes you want to stay a little longer.
Today, Alpinique includes two Colorado stays—one in Steamboat Springs and one in the high country in Alma near Breckenridge and Fairplay. Each is very different, but the standard is the same.
We are also hands-on owners. These aren’t anonymous investment properties managed from a distance. We choose the homes, work on the design, obsess over the details, and continually improve them based on what makes a stay better.
And we’re just getting started.
Our plan is to continue growing Alpinique thoughtfully, adding properties only when we find places that feel distinctive enough to belong in our small collection. If you’d like to see where we go next, follow along as Alpinique grows.
